Parsons Public Library will host book discussions for adults, young adults and children this July and August. Copies of the books are available now at the library.
First up will be a discussion of “The Wild Robot” by Peter Brown for ages 10 and under at 4 p.m. Monday, July 21. In the “Wild Robot,” a robot named Roz finds herself washed up on a remote, wild island after a storm. She must learn to adapt to her new environment if she wishes to survive.
Also scheduled for Monday, July 21, is an adult book discussion of “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah. The event will be at 6 p.m. The book tells the story of sisters Vianne and Isabelle as they navigate the horrors of Nazi-occupied, war-torn France during World War II.
Another book discussion for young adults ages 10-18 is planned for 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13. “The Novice” by Taran Matharu tells the story of Fletcher, a boy who discovers he can summon demons from another dimension and ends up in an elite academy to learn to use his abilities to fight in an ongoing war Copies of the books are available for checkout at the library.
