Shultz, Ball among winners of Fun and Fitness

Delayed by thunder and lightning but still a go, the Parsons Fun and Fitness Tennis Tournament was held on Saturday at Forest Park.

In the men’s division, Wyatt Shultz, the KSHSAA 4A singles runner-up for three straight years, claimed the title with an 8-3 win over his dad, Chris Shultz. Scott Marlow claimed third in the division.

Kadence Ball won the 18-and-under girls division, a round-robin, winning three matches by scores of 8-0, 8-0, 8-0. Heidi Shultz finished in second place.

In the open men’s doubles, Scott Marlow and Chris Shultz won the title with a win over Alex Hicks and Kyle Hutley — Scott and Chris beat Wyatt and Jackson Shultz in the semifinals. Wyatt and Jackson beat Cole Kennett and Kai Gregory in the third place match.

Heidi Shultz and Morgan McLenon claimed first place in the open women’s doubles, winning their round robin matches, 8-3, 8-0 and 8-4.

In the mixed doubles bracket, Wyatt Shultz and Laila Haviland won the title, defeating Kai Gregory and Ally Hicks, 6-4, in the championship. Cole and Tenlee Kennett beat Alex Hicks and Heidi Shultz, 6-3, in the third place match.

Vinny Gage won the junior division, winning both of his matches, 8-2, 8-5.
