Local N ews Commission approves financing for two motor graders
OSWEGO — Labette County commissioners on Monday agreed to finance the purchase of two motor graders through Commercial Bank, which provided the lowest interest rate.
Commissioners opened bids from area banks to finance $566,000 to purchase two Caterpillar graders. Sandy Krider, Public Works supervisor, wanted to pay off the graders over six years.
Of the six bidders, one of them was Caterpillar financing, Commercial Bank offered the lowest interest rate of 3.95%. The county will pay $107,802 a year for six years with payments starting July 1, 2026.
Commissioners accepted the Commercial Bank bid but they still have to sign an agreement for the financing.
In other matters, commissioners: — Appointed Jeff Bohnenblust and Ty Lewis to the Great Plains board.
— Approved lease agreements for the Juvenile Justice Authority for office space in the county’s building at 1708 Corning for $800 a month and for a satellite office in Columbus for $675 a month.
— Approved truancy and juvenile intake agreements with Spring River Mental Health for JJA.
— Approved accounts receivable totaling $243,708.
— After a closed session, commissioners voted 2-1 to appeal a ruling against the county by the State Board of Tax Appeals. Commissioner Vince Schibi voted no on pursuing the appeal.
