FRONTENAC — A Girard man died in a two-vehicle accident Monday morning at Frontenac.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 7 a.m. Monday on the U.S. 69 and U.S. 160 on the north edge of Frontenac on West North Country Road at E. 590th Ave.
The accident happened when a 2000 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Tyler J. Castagno, 16, Pittsburg, was southbound on U.S. 69 and a 2022 Kia Soul driven eastbound on E. 590th Ave by Matthew J. Westhoff-Strode, 21, Girard.
Castagno failed to stop for a red light and struck Westhoff-Strode’s car.
Castagno was not injured. Westhoff-Strode was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither driver wore seat belts.
