At the library
Below are the events for next week at the Parsons Public Library.
MONDAY: 10 a.m., family morning movie; 11:30 a.m., free lunch for children age 18 and younger; 4 p.m., LEGO Club for ages 15 and under; 4 p.m., pressed flower bookmarks for all ages (sign up required, 620-421-5920).
TUESDAY: 10 a.m., Sensory Hour for ages birth to 3; 11:30 a.m., free lunch for children age 18 and younger; 1 to 3 p.m., veterans benefits assistance; 4 p.m., Anime Club for ages 10 to 18.
WEDNESDAY: 10 a.m., Story Hour for ages 2 to 6; 11:30 a.m., free lunch for children age 18 and younger; 4 p.m., dragon’s beard craft for ages 10-18; 6 p.m., beaded wind chime craft for all ages (sign up at 620-421-5920).
THURSDAY: 10 a.m., craft Thursday for ages 6-10 (clay sculpture or pottery; space is limited so signup is required); 11:30 a.m., free lunch for children age 18 and younger; 1 p.m., coloring for adults and teens; 4 p.m., cozy readin for ages 8 to 10; 4 p.m., Switch freeplay for teens.
FRIDAY, July 4: Closed for Independence Day.
Coin club appraisals set
The Parsons Coin Club will offer free appraisals to the public from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11, at Labette Bank, 2121 Main. Club members will assist individuals in identifying and evaluating their old coins, currency and related items.
Also, at a recent meeting, club officers were elected to serve the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Steve Kichler was re-elected to serve as president with Jeff Hamby to again serve as vice president. Christa Hamby was also re-elected as treasurer. Karen McGown was elected to serve as secretary.
The Parsons Coin Club meets at 5:30 p.m. monthly on the third Thursday of the month at the Parsons Senior Center, 1800 Belmont. The next meeting will be held on July 17. Area coin collectors are invited to attend.
Parsons Livestock Auction
On Wednesday, the Parsons Livestock Auction sold 1,200 cattle.
Choice cows 165-179, canners-cutters 155164, shelly cows 154 and down, bred cows up to $2,800, pairs up to $3,200; choice bulls 200216, lower grades 199 and down.
Steers: Up to 400 pounds, 410-485; 400-500, 350-446; 500-600, 325-400; 600-700, 310-359; 700-800, 280-331; 800 and over, 205-294.50.
Heifers: Up to 400 pounds, 300-455; 400500, 330-397; 500-600, 310-356; 600-700, 240326.50; 700-800, 225-319.50; 800 and over, 210-276.
