Below are the events for next week at the Parsons Public Library.
MONDAY: 10 a.m., Story Hour at the splash pad for ages birth to 6; 11:30 a.m., free lunch for children age 18 and younger; 4 p.m., LEGO Club for ages 15 and under; 4 p.m., tai chi 101 for adults and teens; 6 p.m., bad art night for all ages (sign up required, 620421-5920).
TUESDAY: 10 a.m., Sensory Hour for ages birth to 3; 11:30 a.m., free lunch for children age 18 and younger; 4 p.m., Anime Club for ages 10 to 18; 4 p.m., self-love letters for all ages.
WEDNESDAY: 10 a.m., Story Hour for ages 2 to 6; 11:30 a.m., free lunch for children age 18 and younger; 4 p.m., water fun for ages 10 to 18 (wear a swimsuit and bring a towel); 4 p.m., Let’s Play for ages birth to 5.
THURSDAY: 10 a.m., craft Thursday for ages 6-10 (clay sculpture or pottery; space is limited so signup is required); 11:30 a.m., free lunch for children age 18 and younger; 1 p.m., coloring for adults and teens; 4 p.m., cozy read-in for ages 8 to 10; 4 p.m., Switch freeplay for teens; 6 p.m., from garden to table class for all ages.
FRIDAY, JUNE 27: 10 a.m., water Friday (water balloon and color fight for ages 10 and under; wear white or light colored shirt); 11:30 a.m., free lunch for children 18 and younger; 4 p.m., Let’s Cook for ages 10 to 18.
Fellowship lunch in Altamont
ALTAMONT — The Altamont Senior Citizens’ monthly fellowship lunch will be at noon Thursday, June 26, at the senior center. The menu will be sliced turkey with gravy, croissant rolls, German coleslaw and a fruit cup of watermelon and grapes. Breakfast and Bingo will be at 9 a.m. Friday, June 27. Come join us for good food and fellowship.
Storyteller to be at Altamont Wednesday
ALTAMONT — Storyteller and puppeteer Priscilla Howe will be at the Altamont City Park Building from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 25. Her visit is part of the Altamont Public Library’s Summer Learning Program.
Howe has been storytelling for 32 years and has told stories in 14 countries. She wrote a book titled “Clever, Kind, Tricky and Sly: A Bulgarian Folktale Sampler.”
VBS at First Baptist
The First Baptist Church, 1621 Main, Parsons, is having vacation Bible school for kindergarten through fifth grade starting Monday, June 23, and ending Thursday, June 26. The VBS will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and will include supper each evening. Youth will learn about Babylon and the life of Daniel.
Children are welcome and may be signed in on June 23.
Parsons Livestock Auction
On Wednesday, the Parsons Livestock Auction sold 500 cattle.
Choice cows 165-182, canners- cutters 150-164, shelly cows 149 and down, bred cows up to $3,000, pairs up to $3,500; choice bulls 180-199, lower grades 179 and down.
Steers: Up to 400 pounds, 325-450; 400-500, 370-403; 500-600, 270-378; 600-700, 300-357.50; 700-800, 285328.50; 800 and over, 255-310.
Heifers: Up to 400 pounds, 345-450; 400-500, 330-376; 500-600, 291-368; 600-700, 235-325; 700-800, 250-271; 800 and over, 186-227.
