Coffeyville man dies in twovehicle collision on rural road

COFFEYVILLE — A Coffeyville man died in a two-vehicle wreck on Monday afternoon on a rural road north of Coffeyville.

The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the victim as Wyatt T. Johnson, 22, of Coffeyville.

The KHP report on the accident said a 2012 Freightliner truck driven by Derek A. Taggart, 38, of Altamont, was southbound on County Road 4300 north of Coffeyville Country Club. Johnson was northbound on the same road on a 1998 Honda V75 motorcycle. Taggart attempted to turn left into a driveway when Johnson collided with the left front of the Freightliner, the KHP report said.

Johnson was pronounced dead at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Taggart was not injured.

The report noted that Johnson was not wearing a helmet, but Taggart had a seat belt on.
