Parsons city commission on Monday approved gap financing for a Parsons couple to purchase All Seasons Floral.
Jason and Taffy Langston are buying the flower and gift business, 1817 Main. The Langstons are not buying the building, only the business. The loan from the city is $30,000.
The couple have other financing that is greater than the amount of the gap loan from the city, City Attorney Ross Albertini said.
The city commission approved the loan. This is the second loan this spring from the city’s U.S. Department of Agriculture revolving grant funds. The first loan was used to purchase the former Parsons Eye Clinic, 220 N. 32nd, by Out N About Supportive Services.
City economic development director Jim Zaleski told commissioners then that the USDA gap financing offers a 4.25% interest rate, which is favorable. The city’s loan position is generally second to the bank offering primary financing.
