Blake A. Pilkington

Blake A. Pilkington, 50, of Parsons passed away at 8:45 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, at Labette Health.

Blake Pilkington was born on Oct. 17, 1974, to Harley G. Pilkington and Belinda (Allen) Fitzjohn in Independence. He grew up and attended school in Mound Valley and Altamont. He graduated from Labette County High School in 1993. Blake joined the Army and later was medically discharged. Afterward he earned his cosmetology license, owned and operated a business and was a general laborer for various industries.

He was a family man. He enjoyed listening to music, especially Bob Dylan, cooking for his family and fishing.

Survivors include a daughter, Kira Elsey; two grandchildren, Tyler and William Shellito; three sisters, Barbara Jo Brown and her husband, Kelly, Elaine Flatter and Diane Willey and her husband, Jamie; a brother, Michael Pilkington; his grandmother, Barbara Allen; his uncles, Mike Daves and Don Pilkington; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son, baby Ryan Pilkington.

The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the Mound Valley Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association. These can be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS, 67357.
