Police arrest local man for multiple felonies
Parsons police arrested a local man on Thursday after responding to a trespassing call.
At 1:42 p.m. on May 29, Parsons police officers responded to a report of trespassing in progress at a residence in the 1800 block of Levy. While en route, dispatch advised officers that the suspect had reportedly made suicidal statements and was self-harming.
Upon arrival, Officer Tyller White made contact with the woman who reported the crime. She appeared visibly distressed and was crying, and she informed officers that the suspect, identified as Zachary Rowland Jr., 42, had run off toward a wooded area and nearby railroad tracks.
She reported that Rowland had unlawfully entered her residence without permission, made threats to harm himself and ultimately stabbed himself multiple times in her presence. She further stated that she feared for the safety of both her and her young child, who witnessed the altercation.
Parsons police and Community Service Officer Ricky Thompson searched the area and found and arrested Rowland. He was later booked into the Parsons Police Department jail and advised of the charges against him. He had no apparent self-inflicted stab wounds.
The woman provided a detailed statement and agreed to assist with the prosecution.
