Terry G. (Cares) Ashmore, 73, of Parsons died at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons.
She was born Dec. 4, 1951, in Parsons to A.W. and Peggy (Stringer) Cares. She attended Service Valley School, where she enjoyed basketball, track, baseball and singing. She was a member of the Meadowlark Fliers 4-H Club. She also attended Labette County High School and Parsons High School, where she enjoyed singing in the choirs. Later, she attended Labette Community College for two years.
Terry worked for 20 years at Consumers Market on east Main until it closed. She also was employed at Peabody TecTank, Class LTD and Walmart until she retired.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Parsons. Surviving is her daughter, Tammy Ascanio and granddaughter, Gracie, of Parsons; a sister, Becky Cornell of Shawnee; a nephew, Max Cornell (Molly); a niece, Sarah Grindel (Neil); and great-nieces and great-nephews, Isaac Cornell, Eleanor Cornell, Iris Cornell, Esther Cornell, Landon Grindel and Makenna Grindel, all of Shawnee.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 6, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. The service follows at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
