The Rev. Wayne and Brenda Mason sang patriotic songs on Monday for the annual Memorial Day service at the Brown-Bishop Post 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Parsons. Wayne Mason was also the guest speaker for the event, discussing President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, the famous 3 minute speech given on Nov. 19, 1863, at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, at the dedication of the Soldiers’ National Cemetery, now known as Gettysburg National Cemetery. The Battle of Gettysburg was fought a little over four months before Lincoln’s speech. Ray Nolting/Sun photo
