NEWTON — Falling one stroke shy of making the cut for Day 2, Joe Keal of Parsons placed 46th at the KSHSAA 4A Boys Golf State Championships.

Keal shot 14 over par in his lone round.

Wamego won the team state title, posting 621 strokes. Hayden was runner- up with 624 strokes, with Circle (655), Bishop Miege (663) and Andale (664) rounding out the top five.

Independence’s Ethan Small won the Class 4A crown individually, shooting 142 over two rounds to beat Wamego’s Regan Kueker by one stroke.
