
Velma Irene (Seger) Tullis, 103, of Parsons died at 5:05 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Parsons Presbyterian Manor.
She was born June 21, 1921, at Linwood, Missouri, to Lewis and Emma Alice (Carlton) Seger. The family moved to Labette County and she attended local schools, graduating from Edna High School.
Velma married R.A. Tullis July 26, 1947, in Altamont, and they became the parents of two sons, Ronald Tullis and Terry Tullis. They lived in the Bartlett area after their marriage. R.A. preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2008.
She was employed by Bartlett Co-op for about 35 years, retiring in the late 1990s. She enjoyed quilting, her flower garden and church activities. She enjoyed being a grandmother, and you could find her attending most ball games her grandchildren were playing in. Her church home was the former Bartlett United Methodist Church, now named the Bartlett Community Church.
Velma is survived by her son, Terry Tullis of Parsons; seven grandchildren, Staci Cooper (James) of Owasso, Oklahoma, Brent Tullis (Katherine) of Acworth, Georgia, Chad Tullis (Sherri) of Bentonville, Arkansas, Audrey Tullis of Parsons, Cassidy Tullis of Parsons, Thad Burzinski (Jody) of rural Cherryvale, Tony Burzinski (Melisa) of Lake Lotawana, Missouri; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.A. Tullis; her son, Ronald Tullis; and a brother, Clifford Seger.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the Bartlett Community Church, with burial to follow at Lake Creek Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral.
