CHERRYVALE — The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is hosting an open house to provide information on a project that will reconstruct a section of U.S. 160 in Montgomery County.
The open house will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in the north gymnasium of the Cherryvale Community Center, 712 S. Liberty St., Cherryvale.
Members of the public are welcome to stop by the open house to view a project map and displays and talk with project staff. There will be no formal presentations.
Located in front of the Bartlett soybean processing plant, the U.S. 160 project runs east from the south junction of U.S. 169 to the South Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad crossing. Project activity includes widening the driving lanes, adding shoulders and turning lanes. Construction is expected to start in late 2025. At that time, U.S. 160 will be closed to traffic and KDOT will assign a state route detour.
