Below are the events for next week at the Parsons Public Library.

MONDAY: 4 p.m., LEGO Club for ages 15 and under; 4 p.m., children’s craft for ages 2 to 10.

TUESDAY: 10 a.m., sensory hour for ages birth to 3; 4 p.m., Anime Club for ages 10 to 18.

WEDNESDAY: 10 a.m., story hour for ages 2 to 6; 4 p.m., afternoon story hour for ages 2 to 6; 6 p.m., craft for all ages.

THURSDAY: 1 p.m., coloring group for adults and teens; 4 p.m., Switch free play for teens.

FRIDAY, MAY 23: 4 p.m., Let’s Cook for teens. SATURDAY, MAY 24: 1 to 3 p.m., Bingo at Katy Days at the Cardinal Cafe.

Pizza and puzzles

The Labette County Shrine Club is sponsoring a Pizza, Puzzles and Pitchers event at noon on Saturday, May 17, at the Wall Family Center, 26th and Main.

Four person teams will put together a puzzle, consume a large pizza and eight beverages of their choice. The first to complete the tasks wins.

The cost is $100 per team and trophies will be give to teams finishing first, second and third.

Railroad crossing closed at Cherokee

CHEROKEE — The South Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad is repairing the crossing on U.S. 400 east of K-7 at Cherokee.

The crossing will remain closed until May 12, weather permitting. Drivers should follow the signed state detour on U.S. 69, K-103 and K-7.

Spring crops field day is May 20

K-State Research and Extension will host its spring crops field day on Tuesday, May 20, at the Southeast Research and Extension Center, 25092 Ness Road, in Parsons.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 9. The agenda: — Tour of wheat variety plots (15 hard red and 13 soft red varieties).

— Hard and soft red wheat varieties for Southeast Kansas. — Spring 2025 climate update and weather outlook. — Weed management in the changing environment. In case of rain, the program will be held indoors. More information and advance registration are available by contacting the Wildcat Extension District office at 620-784-5337 or the Southeast Research and Extension Center at 620-8206131.

Knap-in scheduled May 30

CHETOPA - The Neosho River Knap-in is scheduled for Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31, in Elmore Park in Chetopa.

Flint knapping booths, arrowheads, knives, spears, native tools, jewelry, crafts and unique rocks will be available for buy/ sell/trade.

The public is welcome.

Parsons Livestock Auction

On Wednesday, the Parsons Livestock Auction sold 1,640 cattle.

Choice cows 160-174, canners-cutters 145-160, shelly cows 144 and down, bred cows up to $3,000, pairs up to $3,950; choice bulls 190-218, lower grades 189 and down.

Steers: Up to 400 pounds, 360-550; 400-500, 375-433; 500600, 340-414; 600-700, 270-360; 700-800, 240-330.50; 800 and over, 225-309.

Heifers: Up to 400 pounds, 319-440; 400-500, 315-419; 500600, 300-353; 600-700, 240-328; 700-800, 235-303; 800 and over, 175-259.
