Police arrest man for aggravated assault on Sunday

Parsons police arrested a Parsons man Sunday afternoon on suspicion of aggravated assault and criminal damage.

Police were called at 3:30 p.m. Sunday to the 1000 block of South 16th Street for a disturbance between family members. A 62-year-old man reported that he was involved in an argument with Bryant Macquarie, 37. During the altercation, Bryant began striking the victim’s truck, which was parked near the alley, and threw two bricks and a banana at the victim.

While still on the phone with emergency dispatchers, the victim indicated that Macquarie had left. Sgt. Waylon Kepley located MacQuarie in the 800 block of South 14th Street. Mc-Quarie was detained.

A neighbor gave a corroborating statement. Based on the statements police arrested McQuarie on suspicion of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property.

This continues to be an ongoing investigation, and citizens are encouraged to “see it, hear it, report it.” All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060, call the tip line at 421-7057 or email [email protected].
