Lee W. Wegner

Lee W. Wegner, 82, of rural Parsons passed away at 4:47 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025.

He was born on Jan. 6, 1943, in Westmoreland to Raymond and Pearl (Peterson) Wegner. The family moved to Ozawkie, where he grew up and attended Ozawkie and Oskaloosa schools. Lee graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1961. After high school, Lee worked for a custom harvesting crew traveling from Texas to Canada.

He married Marlene Elkinton on Sept. 12, 1965, at Oskaloosa. They moved to rural Parsons, where Lee was a lifelong farmer. The family farm included a dairy operation and row crops. He and his brother, Roger Wegner, operated the Wegner Brothers implement company.

Lee’s hobbies included tractor pulling, playing cards, KU basketball and ham radio operations. Most of all, he cherished his wife, sons and grandchildren.

He was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Parsons, where he served as a deacon.

In addition to his wife, Lee is survived by his sons, David Wegner and his wife, Michelle, of Wichita, Darrin Wegner and his wife, Brandi, of Centerton, Arkansas, and Chad Wegner and his wife, Rachelle, of Lenexa; six grandchildren, Morgan Craytor and her husband, Andrew, of Wichita, Jason Wegner and his wife, Jenna, of Wichita, Peyton Wegner of Centerton, Arkansas, Mackenzie Wegner of Centerton, Arkansas, Haley Wegner of Lenexa and Dalton Wegner of Lenexa; four great-grandchildren, Memphis Wegner, Swayze Wegner, Mayzie Craytor and Foster Wegner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Roger Wegner.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Jennifer Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church of Parsons or to Camp MITIOG, a week-long camp for children with spina bifida. These may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS, 67357.
