Playing their first games in over a week, the Parsons Vikings split an SEK League baseball doubleheader with the Coffeyville Golden Tornado on Monday. Parsons won Game 1, 9-5, while Coffeyville took Game 2, 18-8.
In Game 1, Parsons ace Mikey Ramsey tossed a gem on the hill, throwing five innings of no-hit ball with 13 strikeouts.
Ramsey also posted three hits and scored a run, while Xander Gabbert tallied a pair of hits and three RBIs.
Jaxin Hershey ate the loss on the hill for Coffeyville, allowing five runs and as many hits over three innings.
As for Game 2, Coffeyville scored at least three runs in every inning en route to the run-rule win.
Connor Largent, who appeared on the mound in relief for Parsons, was charged with the loss. Largent was responsible for five runs while recording four outs.
Ramsey again tallied three hits and scored two runs, producing nearly half of Parsons’ knocks over the game.
Coffeyville’s Bennett Thompson earned the win on the hill, striking out four and allowing one earned run over 2.2 innings of work. Ryley Robson and Hadyn Main each registered three hits for the Golden Tornado.
Parsons moved to 3-7 overall with the series split.
