Fatality crash reported early Monday in Neosho County

CHANUTE — One person was killed and another suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle, head-on crash early Monday in Neosho County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the collision happened at 6 a.m. Monday on K-39 near Udall Road, about 15 miles east of Chanute.

According to the KHP, a 2019 Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle was northbound on K-39 when it collided head-on with a southbound 2021 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. The patrol said the vehicles collided at the center of the highway.

The driver of the Durango, Teresa Marie Phillips, 47, of Chanute was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said Phillips wasn’t wearing her seat belt.

The driver of the Silverado, Thaddaeus Jack Jetmore, 38, of Deerfield, Missouri, was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, with suspected serious injuries. The patrol said Jetmore was wearing his seat belt.

The patrol said both drivers were alone in their vehicles.
