CHANUTE — William Troy Webster, 75, of Chanute passed away peacefully at Diversicare of Chanute on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
Bill was born Nov. 8, 1949, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, to William A. and Charlotte (Haworth) Webster. His life was a testament to his kind heart and dedication to family and community.
He graduated from Labette County High School in 1968 and furthered his education at Pittsburg State Technical College, earning a welding certificate. Bill’s career spanned several decades, including time at Alcorn Combustion, which became Chanute Manufacturing from 1969 to 1984, before retiring from Custom Campers.
On May 20, 1972, Bill married the love of his life, Marie Percy, in Pittsburg. Their 51 years together were a beautiful partnership marked by shared joy and unwavering devotion. Their love extended to their community through active involvement in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program, where they dedicated their time to mentoring children. Bill and Marie also found immense pleasure in raising beagles and chickens at their country home. Marie preceded Bill in death on July 13, 2023.
Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and held a deep faith. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, finding solace in fishing and cherishing the daily trips to McDonald’s with his beloved Marie.
He is survived by his brother, Kenny Webster of Parsons; and cherished neighbors and friends, Ed and Charlotte Stout, who provided him with unwavering support.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Marie. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Elmwood Cemetery in Chanute. The family suggests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church.
Bill’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home.
