Dr. Terry Rothstein, an ophthalmologist who began his practice in Parsons in June 1977, has retired.
Rothstein’s building and property at 220 N. 32nd St. is now for sale.
Rothstein is a 1969 graduate of the medical school at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He also is a Navy veteran.
While in Parsons, he served as the Doctor on Call, a weekly show on KLKC Radio, for 35 years before leaving that post in 2024. Listeners called in to ask questions about health issues.
In a letter to patients, Rothstein wrote that he retired effective April 11.
“I have enjoyed my many years of service to my patients in Parsons and the surrounding area. Thank you for entrusting me with your medical care,” he wrote. “It has been a true pleasure and a privilege to treat you during the course of my practice. My wife and I wish you and your family well.”
Rothstein had been on the active medical staff at Labette Health from Feb. 1, 1980, to Oct. 31, 2022. He was on the associate staff after that until Oct. 31, 2024, and the honorary staff since then.
He served as chief of the medical staff from 2005 to 2006. He also served on the Medical Executive Committee in various posts.
