Below are the events for next week at the Parsons Public Library.

MONDAY: 4 p.m., LEGO Club for ages 15 and under; 6 p.m., family bingo for all ages.

TUESDAY: 10 a.m., sensory hour for ages birth to 3; 4 p.m., Anime Club for ages 10 to 18.

WEDNESDAY: 10 a.m., story hour for ages 2 to 6; 4 p.m., afternoon story hour for ages 2 to 6.

THURSDAY: 1 p.m., coloring group for adults and teens; 4 p.m., Switch free play for teens.

FRIDAY, MAY 9: 3 p.m., adult bingo; 4 p.m., Let’s Cook for teens.

Community concert set for Sunday

Labette Community College will present the Parsons Community Chorus, Orchestra and Band conducted by Scott Nelson and Julia McCabe for the spring concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, at Parsons High School Auditorium, 31st and Morton.

The music includes a variety of selections of all styles and concludes with the Orchestra and Chorus performance of “How Can I Keep from Singing.” The band will begin the concert with The Star Spangled Banner.

Admission is free.

Museum opens Friday

The Parsons Museum will open on Friday, May 2. Regular hours are between 1 and 4 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through the end of October. The first weekend will include refreshments and new exhibits to see in the museum complex, including the Farm Heritage building and Iron Horse Depot. Genealogy and research assistance will be available again this season. Entry is free but donations are appreciated.

The museum is located at 401 18th St. The museum will have a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3, at the Farm Heritage building.

Audubon to meet May 6

The Southeast Kansas Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the Parsons Arboretum, 2004 Briggs, at the corner of 21st and Briggs in Glenwood Park. The public is invited and refreshments will be served following the program.

Braidy Hunt will present the program on Pittsburg State University’s bat research. She plans to talk about how they’ve been tracking the fall migration of gray bats from Pittsburg to their winter homes.

Sunday country breakfast

BARTLETT — The Bartlett Community Church will serve a Sunday country breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 4. The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will feature homemade sausage gravy served with biscuits, hash browns, scrambled eggs, egg casseroles, ham, sausage, fresh fruit, breakfast sweets, donuts, homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee, juice and milk. Donations will be accepted to support the ministry and mission work of the church. The public is invited to attend.

Carryout will be available for those who do not want to dine in. The church is located at 712 Main on the south side of Bartlett. In case of severe weather conditions, call 620-423-1789 or 620-778-4635 to check for cancellation.

Knap-in scheduled May 30

CHETOPA — The Neosho River Knap-in is scheduled for Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31, in Elmore Park in Chetopa.

Flint knapping booths, arrowheads, knives, spears, native tools, jewelry, crafts and unique rocks will be available for buy/ sell/trade.

The public is welcome.

Parsons Livestock Auction

On Wednesday, the Parsons Livestock Auction sold 600 cattle.

Choice cows 154-159, canners-cutters 145-154, shelly cows 144 and down, bred cows up to $2,500, pairs up to $3,400; choice bulls 188-212, lower grades 187 and down.

Steers: Up to 400 pounds, 370-505; 400-500, 361-450; 500600, 340-421; 600-700, 279-370; 700-800, 247-338; 800 and over, 227-249.50.

Heifers: Up to 400 pounds, 349-437; 400-500, 315-407; 500600, 260-364; 600-700, 275-320; 700-800, 210-281; 800 and over, 175-235.
