Ruth M. Gaiser, 90, a lifelong Parsons resident, died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, at Woodridge Estates in Parsons, where she had resided the past several months.
She was born Sept. 16, 1933, in Parsons to Lloyd and May (Dringenberg) Oler. She attended Parsons schools and graduated from Parsons High School.
On Sept. 19, 1953, Ruth married Grover L. Gaiser at the former Washington Avenue Methodist Church parsonage in Parsons. They had met at the S.H. Kress Store in Parsons while she was employed there. Earlier she worked at the West Theater. Later she was employed at Litwin’s Store, where Grover was manager. From 1979 to 1985 she and Grover operated the Snack ‘n Shoppe and from 1985 until 1999 they operated Round the Clock Advertising. For 12 years after retirement they spent the winters in south Texas. Grover preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 2013.
Ruth was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She loved cooking and baking. Every year she enjoyed making candy during the Christmas season and sending holiday-themed cookies to her grandchildren. Other favorite activities included bird watching, doing jigsaw puzzles and counted cross stitch.
Ruth is survived by a daughter, Linda Patterson and her husband, John, of Maple Hill; a son, Gary Gaiser and his wife, Marcia, of Mustang, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Sarah Scott, Amber Throckmorton (husband, Jared), Leah Rusinek (husband, Alex), Jared Gaiser, Jayme Clifton (husband, Wyatt); and great-grandchildren, Taylor Scott, Rylee Scott, Luca Rusinek, Ellie Throckmorton, Kennedy Clifton and Madison Clifton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover; and a grandson-in-law, Dustin Scott.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Taud Boatman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Wesley United Methodist Church. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS, 67357.
