Robert and Sharon (Galichia) Brandenburg were married 50 years ago on Nov. 17, 1968, at the First Presbyterian Church in Parsons. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends. At the gathering, Kay Lawrence and Warren Townsend, accompanied by Martha Brandenburg, sang “The Impossible Dream,” which Kay had sung at their wedding 50 years ago.
The Brandenburgs had previously observed this milestone with a Branson vacation with their two daughters and their families: Jill and David Adams, Bridget and Terry Foster and five grandsons ages 5 to 13.
Robert served as CFO of Labette County Medical Center (now Labette Health) from before it opened in 1961 until his medical retirement in 1995. Sharon was a social worker at the Labette County Social Welfare Department (later SRS) until becoming a stay-at-home mom. She later worked as a social worker with the Renal Care Group dialysis facility in Chanute, retiring in 2004.
