Hosea and Mildred Banzet, rural Altamont, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a private family celebration.
Hosea Banzet and Mildred Adams were married March 26, 1959, in Fort Lee, Virginia, in a chapel on an Army base. They lived in Mulvane after Mr. Banzet’s military service and later moved to Altamont.
Mrs. Banzet owned and operated the Grizzly Den restaurant in Altamont for 33 years. After she sold the business, she continued to work there for an additional three years for the new owner, with her daughter, Sharon, to keep the restaurant running smoothly. She is retired and now volunteers at the New Life Thrift Store in Altamont.
Mr. Banzet began his career as a welder with Cessna in Wichita, working there more than 20 years. When the family moved to Altamont, he began working for Ruskin Manufacturing at the Parsons and Galesburg plants. He worked at Ruskin for an additional 20 years as a welder. He is now retired but remains active on the farm.
The Banzets are members of the First Baptist Church in Altamont.
The couple have three children, Duane Banzet of Neodesha, Sharon Smith of Altamont and Gloria Webster of Parsons; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, with No. 4 on the way.
The children of Hosea and Mildred Banzet would like to honor their parents with a card shower. Please send cards to the Banzets at 1579 13000 Road, Altamont, KS, 67330.
