Thad and Karen Osgood of rural Parsons will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this month.
The couple’s children will host a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 29 at Westside Christian Church, 5100 Main. Friends and family are invited. The family requests no gifts.
Thad Osgood and Karen Quathamer met on a blind date arranged by Thad’s former teacher. They were married on Dec. 26, 1968, at Center Bethel Church by the Rev. Theodore Osgood.
Mr. Osgood has had varied occupations including raising cattle and operating a welding shop. He served as a rural mail carrier in the Oswego area, retiring in 2005. Then he drove a school bus for Labette County USD 506, retiring in 2011.
Mrs. Osgood was a registered nurse for 42 years, retiring in 2011.
Mr. Osgood is a member of Disabled American Veterans. Both are active members of Westside Christian Church.
After marrying, the couple moved to a farm south of Parsons, where they still live.
The couple have three children, Clarinda (Jeff) O’Brien of St. Paul, Ty (Jen) Osgood of Joplin and Evan (Katie) Osgood of Marion, Iowa. They also have nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
