Dale and Irene Phillips of rural Dennis will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Thursday.
Their children and grandchildren will host an informal reception from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Osage Township Community Center in Dennis.
Ralph Dale Phillips and Lillie Irene Myers were married at 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 1947, at First Baptist Church, Altamont, with the Rev. Pearson officiating. In attendance were their parents and Ivan and Wanda Myers, who stood up with them. Following the wedding ceremony, a nice family dinner was held in their honor at Irene’s parents’ home to celebrate their marriage.
The Phillipses have four children, Calvin Phillips and his wife, Karen, Dawn Jones and her husband, Marc, a deceased daughter, Twila Phillips, and a deceased son, Phillip Phillips. The couple have seven grandchildren, Charity Frey and her husband, Peter, Caleb Phillips and his wife, Janet, Holly Miksch and her husband, Andrew, Melody Kabrey and her husband, Kevin, Jordan Jones and his wife, Eve, Jonah Jones and his wife, Tracy, and SunDee Jones. They also have 15 great-grandchildren, Aidan and Alexis Frey, Chester, Iscel, Adaline and Wynn Phillips, Andrew and Elizabeth Miksch, Josephine, Sebastien, Elias and Levi Jones, Danica, Mila and Twila Jones.
Dale and Irene have lived and farmed in rural Dennis for all 70 years of their married life. They are members of Hazeldell Baptist Church, rural Cherryvale.
