ST. PAUL — Leonard I. Nunnink Sr., 89, of St. Paul died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.

He was born Jan. 31, 1921, in St. Paul to Charles and Mary (Linden) Nunnink. He grew up in St. Paul and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired building contractor and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Nunnink of the home in St. Paul; seven children, Lenny Nunnink Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Belton, Mo., Sandy Williams of Waynesville, N.C., Diana Robinson and her husband, Gary, of Fort Myers, Fla., Debi Buchanan of Leesburg, Ga., Chris Nunninkof Waynesville, N.C., Mike Nunnink of North Carolina and Peggy Hickman of Waynesville, N.C.; three stepdaughters, Lori Luma and her husband, Kevin, Fort Myers, Fla., Leanna Lane and her husband, Steven, of Fort Smith, Ark., and Dawn Farr and her husband, Bruce, of Anchorage, Alaska; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Josephine Schmitz of North Port, Fla., and Delores McCauley of St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery with military honors. The parish will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in St. Paul, where friends may call after noon on Friday.
