Robert Eugene “Woody” Woodworth, 69, of Parsons died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at his home. His death followed a short illness.
He was born April 12, 1941, at Melrose, a son of Roy T. and Ruth (Tatum) Woodworth. Later that year, his family moved to Parsons, where he grew up and attended school.
He married Jane Ward on Oct. 13, 1962, at Parsons. The couple then moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he worked at Western Auto. They returned to Parsons in 1972 and he went to work for Crane Sheet Metal. He then worked for Sheet Metal Local No. 2, Kansas City, Mo., and worked on nuclear power plant projects, including Wolf Creek. He later worked at Plaza Place Apartments in Parsons until he retired because of his illness.
He attended Wesley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed carpentry work and took on several home remodeling projects. He also enjoyed animals, especially dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Woodworth of the home; two sons, Doug Woodworth of Parsons and Mark Woodworth of Overland Park; and a brother, Don Woodworth of Parsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James D. Woodworth.
The body will be cremated. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Wolf officiating. Burial will be later in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
