WEBB CITY, Mo. — Lois Jeannine Hefley, 74, of Webb City, Mo., died on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010.

She was born in Lyons on Nov. 26, 1935, to Hiram and Mary Marceline (Tener) Smith. Lois graduated from Lyons High School. She attended Sterling College, Pittsburg State University and Emporia State University. She had a bachelor of arts degree and a masters degree in library science.

She married Gary Jackson Sr. They later divorced. She married Brian Fenton. They later divorced. She married Jerry Hefley, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hefley was a school teacher and librarian for various school districts.

Survivors include a son, Gary Jackson Jr. of Webb City, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Tina Dinnsen of Oswego and Tisha Schroeder of Topeka; a granddaughter; a sister, Sharon Palmgren of Lyons; and a brother, Frank Smith of Baltimore, Md.

A celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Christ’s Church of Oronogo. Another service will be at the Ebenezer Church, Lyons, at 2 p.m. Oct. 23.

Family requests memorials to the Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center.

The Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin is in charge of arrangements.
