Charles W. Foster, 75, of Edna died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at Labette Health. He had been in failing health for several months.
He was born June 29, 1935, near Edna to George and Neva (Leka) Foster. He grew up and attended grade school there at the Star School. He graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1952 and then graduated from Coffeyville Junior College.
He farmed and raised cattle throughout his adult life. He also worked in cabinet making for the former Sherwood Cabinets in Parsons and later M&M Moldings, which later became Grandview Products in Cherryvale. He worked there until his retirement. He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. He was a member and deacon of the Elm Christian Church near Edna. He had also been an elder there in the past.
Mr. Foster married Margaret Jane Stelzner at the Presbyterian Church in Baxter Springs on Jan. 17, 1960. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Mike Foster of Coffeyville and Mark Foster and his wife, Jo, of Edna; and two grandchildren, Sierra and Colten Foster.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Foster.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Elm Grove Cemetery at Edna. The family will receive friends at Elm Christian Church near Edna from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Friends may call at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Sunday until the casket is moved to the church for the visitation.
