BRONSON, Fla. — Vernon Eugene Fouts, 83, of Bronson, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at the Tri County Hospice Center in Chiefland, Fla.
He was born on Aug. 25, 1927, in Parsons to Verlie and Marie (Keene) Fouts.
He married Rosaleen Smith on March 24, 1945, in Parsons. She survives.
Mr. Fouts worked for Foodtown Stores, Pittsburg, from 1958 to 1982, having served as market manager, store manger, assistant meat supervisor, produce supervisor, vice president and director of sales and merchandising. He co-owned Vern’s Food Fair in Golden City, Mo., until his retirement in 1992.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve, serving in both World War II and the Korean War.
Other survivors are a granddaughter, whom they raised from birth, Shari Rice of Bronson, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren.
The service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at the Gainesville Church of God in Gainesville, Fla.
A Direct Cremation of Gainesville is in charge of arrangements.
