COFFEYVILLE — Pearl Wilson, 97, of Coffeyville, formerly of Chetopa, died at 11:51 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at her home in Coffeyville.
She was born Sept. 30, 1913, in Nowata County, Okla., to T.R. and Carrie (Burnsides) Palmer. As a young girl, she attended Thompson and Pettit schools.
She married Alvin Kerns. They later divorced. On Aug. 9, 1958, she married James M. “Jim” Wilson. He preceded her in death May 26, 2010.
For more than 40 years, she was owner and operator of Pearl’s Beauty Shop in Edna and Parsons.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Kay Mann of Coffeyville; a stepson, Rodger Wilson of rural Chetopa; three stepdaughters, Shirley Ann Bell of rural Chetopa, Sharon Kay Thomas of Welch, Okla., and Rita Jean Grossman of Independence; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Nadine Kerns.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Church of God in Coffeyville. Burial will be in Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
