Monte G. Fraker, 62, of Parsons died at 8:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at Elmhaven West.

He was born Nov. 14, 1947, at Erie a son of Searel R. and Druscella K. (Peifer) Fraker. He graduated from Galesburg High School. Upon graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army at age 18.

He served in Vietnam from November 1967 until April 1969. For his service there, Mr. Fraker received the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Meritorious Unit citation. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of sergeant. When he returned to Kansas, he attended Labette Junior College and Emporia College.

He married Cinda Burns on Dec. 31, 1970.

Survivors include three sons, Bradley Fraker, Brandon Fraker, both of Iola, and John Fraker of Fall River; twin daughters, Ashley Fraker and Megan Fraker, both of Overbrook; two grandchildren; a brother, Dick Fraker and his wife, Shirley, of Parsons; a sister, Rose-Alee Sims of Erie; a special nephew, Bryan Fraker of Parsons; and other nieces and nephews.

The body will be cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Mason officiating. Military honors will be given by the George L. Hendricks Post 102, American Legion.
