KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ruth E. Shepard, 85, of Kansas City, Mo., died of complications from a hip fracture and Alzheimer’s on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at NorthCare Hospice in North Kansas City, Mo. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 1995.
She was born on Jan. 1, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo., and adopted by Thomas and Maude (Trowbridge) Keegan in May 1925. She attended elementary and high school in Dennis.
She married Orville A. Shepard in November 1945 in Parsons.
She worked for 26 years for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1985. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Shelley of College Station, Texas, and Virginia Boyd of Kearney, Mo.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard, in 1996.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McGilley Antioch Chapel in Kansas City, Mo., where the family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mount Washington Cemetery at Kansas City.
