GALESBURG — Riley Grant Baldwin, 96, of Galesburg, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

He was born in rural Galesburg on Sept. 6, 1914, the son of Harry and Zella (Fought) Baldwin. He attended Galesburg schools.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He married Virtress Dixon Jordan on Nov. 20, 1952, at Chanute. She preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 1998.

He was a lifetime farmer.

He was a member of Galesburg Christian Church.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Joyce Jordan McKinsey; two stepsons, Jerry Jordan and John Jordan, both of Chanute; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Baldwin of Erie; and three sisters, Anna Schoenhofer of St. Paul, Ada Lee Landrau of California and Alma Oberly of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Jewell Johnson; a stepson, Joe Jordan; and five siblings, Ruth Arseneault, Ruby Wilcox, Opal St. Clair, Roy Baldwin and Harvey Baldwin.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Galesburg Christian Church. Burial will follow in Harrison Cemetery in rural Thayer.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute.
