TULSA — David E. Dresher Jr., 85, of Tulsa, formerly of Chetopa, died at noon Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at MeadowBrook Specialty Hospital in Tulsa.

He was born April 5, 1925, in Chetopa to David Earl and Mamie Iris (Robertson) Dresher. He grew up in Chetopa, where he attended schools and graduated from Chetopa High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in Chetopa and Welch, Okla., prior to his retirement.

He married Ellen Marie Smith on April 7, 1946, in Chetopa. She preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 2005.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Dresher-Crosby of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Rhonda Dresher of Tulsa; and two grandchildren.

Following cremation, the graveside committal service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa.
