HALLOWELL — James Andrew “Jim” Delmont, 65, of Hallowell died on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at St John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin of an apparent heart attack.

He was born Dec. 24, 1944, in Columbus to Ralph and Annarita (York) Delmont. He attended Center Country School and CCRHS.

He married Alice Jean “Tootsie” Schreiber on April 4, 1964, in Hallowell. She survives.

He worked in Cherokee County all his life and retired in 2007.

Other survivors include two daughters, Lela Delmont of the home and Libby Perry of Hallowell; a son, Sam Delmont of Columbus; his mother, Annarita Delmont of Quapaw, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandson; three sisters, Martha Conrad of Harrisonville, Mo., Johanna Abernathy of Quapaw, Okla., and Margaret Fields of Joplin; and five brothers, Billy Delmont of El Paso, Texas, Bob Delmont of Paragould, Ark., Ed Delmont of Columbus, Danny Delmont of Altamont and Joe David Delmont of Dairyland, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his father and a daughter, Lacy Jones.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Murdock Chapel, Columbus. Interment will follow in Edgmand Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
