CHERRYVALE — William J. Carinder, 86, of Cherryvale died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Cherryvale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Oct. 14, 1923, in Caney to Josiah G. and Inez (Markley) Carinder. He graduated from Caney High School in 1941 and later from Coffeyville Community College. He served in the Army during World War II. After service, he graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture in 1948.

Mr. Carinder owned a hatchery in Cherryvale for a time.

He married Faith Henry on June 27, 1954, at the Cherryvale United Methodist Church by the Rev. J.C. Duissair. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, William H. Carinder of Coralville, Iowa, and Mark Carinder of Cherryvale; a daughter, Janie Houston of Coffeyville; and four grandchildren.

The celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cherryvale United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Potts Chapel in Cherryvale.

The family suggests memorials to Cherryvale United Methodist Church and these may be left in care of the funeral home.
