OSWEGO — Betty Jane Pickens, 87, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, in her home near Oswego.
The second of seven children born to Pearl and Shelby Robertson near Boswell, Okla., she was teaching in a one-room school when she married her sweetheart, Don Pickens. They moved to Southeast Kansas in 1948 and jointly operated a successful dairy farm near Labette.
She was predeceased by their son, Rick; her parents; and three siblings. She is survived by her husband, Don; a daughter, Judy, and son-in-law, Phil Sweetland, of Seattle; and three sisters.
The service will be at 10 a.m. today at Oswego United Methodist Church. Murdock Funeral Home, Oswego, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
