O.C. “Bud” Buddenhagen, 97, a lifelong resident of Parsons, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Elmhaven East nursing home in Parsons.

He was born Sept. 21, 1912, in Parsons to Edward and Tonie I. (Bocha) Buddenhagen. He grew up and attended school in Parsons. From 1945 to 1973, he was owner and operator of the former B&R Tire Service on North Central in Parsons.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Parsons. Following his retirement, he enjoyed golfing and going to casinos.

He married Veva Marion Pace on March 12, 1938, in Independence. She preceded him in death July 13, 1997.

Survivors include a son, Ron Buddenhagen and his wife, Glenda, of Parsons; five grandchildren, Mark Johnston and his wife, Jodi, Kelley Hurst and her husband, Phillip, Shawn Johnston and his wife, Kayla, Kerri Beardmore and her husband, Gerald, and Brent Johnston and his wife, Julie, all of Parsons; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers; two sisters; a daughter, Marilyn Johnston; and a son-in-law, Herman Johnston.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
