OSWEGO — Nancy J. Brawley, 59, of Oswego died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Labette Health in Parsons. She had been in failing health, but death was unexpected.
She was born Aug. 28, 1950, at Seneca, Mo., to Lee Roy and Hazel Lorene (Huston) Cook. She attended Hart School near Seneca and Bluejacket schools in Bluejacket, Okla.
She loved to crochet items to give to family and friends. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was baptized in the Baptist Church at Timber Hill, Okla.
Survivors include five brothers, Jimmy Cook of North Miami, Okla., Travis Cook and his wife, Carolina, of Mulberry, Raymond Cook and his wife, Jean, of Oswego, Joe Cook and his wife, Mary, of Arma and Billy Cook and his wife, Cheryl, of Rogers, Ark.; three sisters, Flora Morgan and her husband, Ray, of Vinita, Okla., Ruth Woolman of Oswego and Celia Simmons and her husband, Tom, of Oswego; her beloved black poodle, Bingo, who was her life; and her special friend, Terry Hoffman of Oswego; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Carol Cook; and a nephew, Elvis Cook.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Murdock Funeral Home in Oswego with Pastor Randy Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Swars Prairie Cemetery south of Seneca at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
