CANEY — Robert H. Shively, 81, of Caney died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Okla.
He was born July 3, 1929, in Walnut to Richard and Caroline (Elmer) Shively. He grew up in Walnut and graduated from Walnut High School. He served in the Marines during the Korean War.
He was a propane plant manager for 32 years in Caney.
Mr. Shively married Sara M. Modica on Nov. 14, 1953, in Walnut. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Richard Shively of Gilbert, Ariz., Robert Shively of Olathe and Charles Shively of Coffeyville; a daughter, Carolyn Shaw of Caney; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl Modica of Walnut.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caney. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. today at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Walnut.
The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Altar Society or the Caney American Legion Avenue of Flags, which may be left with Potts Chapel in Caney.
