Juanita A. Good, 90, of Parsons, a former Altamont resident, died at 12:57 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Labette Health in Parsons.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1919, on the family farm near Thayer to Harley F. and Ella (Bicknell) Newland. She attended the Newland Community School and graduated from Altoona-Midway High School in 1937.
She married Paul E. Good on June 6, 1937. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1991.
She lived in Parsons until 1972, when she moved to Salina. She moved back to the area, where she resided in Altamont when her husband retired in 1979. She moved to Woodridge Estates apartments at Parsons in 2006.
She was a faithful and devout Christian and a member of the Altamont Christian Church, where she played the organ.
She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed needle work. She loved music and sang in the Parsons Community Choir. She also enjoyed baking, dancing and animals. She served on the Altamont Housing Board and the Altamont Fine Arts Club.
Survivors include a son, Don Good, and his wife, Catherine, of Chocowinity, N.C.; two daughters, Carolyn Loncarich, and her husband, Jim, of rural Oswego and Pam Good of Phoenix; five grandchildren, Diane Journot and her husband, Mike, Lisa Miller, Janet Hapner and her husband, David, Jami Shipp and her husband, Tony, Lori Moore and her husband, Chris; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harley Newland, and his wife, Lynda, of Wichita; and many other extended family members.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience.
