THAYER — Richard “Dick” Lynn Harding, 64, of Thayer died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Parsons on Sept. 27, 1945, the son of Don A. and Shirley J. (Crabb) Harding. He graduated from Stark High School in the Class of 1963.

He married Anita “Sue” Umbarger on Sept. 23, 1965, in Erie. She survives.

Mr. Harding was a semi-truck driver for 43 years, most recently for TDC in Joplin.

Other survivors include his mother, Shirley Harding of Erie; a son, Kelsey Harding and his wife, Candace, of Burdick; three daughters, Kalene Newton and her companion, Dave Butler, Kim Berg and her husband, Randy, and Koralyn Barkman and her husband, Justin, all of Thayer; grandchildren, Kelly Harding and her spouse, Shawnte and great-grandsons Kayle and Kyler, Kory Harding and his wife, Jordan, Konley Harding, Kordell Harding, Kendall Harding, Kody Dannelley and his wife, Summer, Kyler Dannelley, Keesha Newton, Ashleigh Berg and great-granddaughter Chloe, Kourtney Berg, Gavan Berg, Katie Berg, Kenzli Swisher, Drey Barkman, Zoe Barkman, Kole Harding and Kaia Barkman; a brother, Doug Harding and his wife, Jan, of Erie; his father-in-law, Orville “Jack” Umbarger of Thayer; a sister-in-law, Colleen Ferguson of Fredonia; a brother-in-law, Lynn Umbarger and his wife, Karen, of Wichita; and a sister-in-law, Janis Snavely and her husband, Jim, of Thayer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Don Harding; his grandparents; mother-in-law, Eula Umbarger; daughter-in-law, Lois Harding; and brother-in-law, Charlie Ferguson.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Thayer United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to NMRMC Care Car, a service he enjoyed during his illness, and may be left with the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel of Chanute.
