JOPLIN — Michael R. Chavis, 25, of Joplin, formerly of Pittsburg and Parsons, died Saturday morning, Aug. 14, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born Dec. 12, 1984, in Columbus the son of Jed and Crystal (Finke) Powell.

Survivors include his parents of Joplin; a brother, Scott Chavis and his wife, Hilary, of Pittsburg; two stepsisters, Amanda Powell of Pottsville, Ark., and Alishia Rooney of West Mineral; a nephew, Drew Chavis; and two nieces, Sophia Chavis and Britni Rooney.

He was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Joshua Powell.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cycle Connection Harley-Davidson, 5014 Hearnes Blvd. Joplin, with the Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating.
