ST. PAUL — Robert M. “Bob” Grillot, 47, of St. Paul died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He had been in failing health, but his death was unexpected.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1963, at Parsons to J. Edward “Eddie” and Margaret (O’Hara) Grillot. He grew up at St. Paul and attended schools there, graduating from St. Paul High School in 1982. He graduated from the electrical program at Coffeyville Community College and received his journeyman electrician certification.

He worked at a few manufacturing companies in the area before moving to the Kansas City area. He worked for two electrical contracting firms in the Kansas City area, where he excelled in his career as a journeyman electrician.

He married Diana Johnson on Aug. 7, 1987, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. They later divorced, however, they remained close friends.

Bob was a very involved parent and took great pride and joy in his children’s activities and accomplishments. He loved woodworking and was an excellent cook, with grilling out being his specialty. He was an avid card player and could never turn down a game of pitch. He also had a kind and gentle spirit with having a “give you the shirt off his back” generosity.

Survivors include his daughter, Jayme Grillot of Columbia, Mo.; his son, Tanner Grillot, and his wife, Diserae, stationed at Sasebo, Japan; his mother, Margaret Grillot of St. Paul; five brothers, Joe Grillot of Chanute, Dave Grillot and his wife, Carolyn, of Pittsburg, Jim Grillot, and his wife, Debbie, of Olathe, Tom Grillot, and his wife, Nancy, of St. Paul, and Randy Grillot, and his wife, Nancy, of Olathe; three sisters, Peggy Wunderly, and her husband, Don, of Devon, Nancy Foster of Pomona and his twin sister, Becky Hays, and her husband, Bruce, of Chetopa; 10 nephews; 12 nieces; six great-nephews; four great-nieces; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Tammy Marie Grillot.

Following cremation, there will be a memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery.
