WICHITA — Richard Lee Overman, 62, of Welch, Okla., formerly of Oswego, died at 2:58 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at his home.

He was born March 3, 1948, in Columbus to Gordon LeRoy and Edna Faye (Westervelt) Overman. He was a 1966 graduate of Oswego High School.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University and a master of divinity degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as a Baptist minister from 1980 to 1988.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Dewayne Overman of West Memphis, Ark., Jacob Michael Overman of Jacksonville, Fla., and Peter Christopher Overman of Chicago; a daughter, Esther Elise Harrington of New York; a grandchild; and a sister, Nancy Whetstone of Chetopa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Following cremation, the service will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at Faith Baptist Church in Chetopa. Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa is in charge of arrangements.
