She was born on June 12, 1934, at Parsons to Carl Clyde and Ruth Nina (Horn) Whitson. She was raised here until her family moved to Junction City when she was in the sixth grade.
On Oct. 28, 1951, she married George E. Marcus at First Baptist Church at Junction City. She returned to Parsons in 1993.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Junction City and later First Baptist in Parsons. She enjoyed oil painting, reading and watching old movies.
Survivors include her husband, George E. Marcus Sr. of Parsons; five sons, George Marcus Jr., and his wife, Gloria, of Junction City, Michael Marcus, and his wife, Cyndi, of Williamsburg, Va., Steven Marcus, and his wife, Sharon, of Parsons, Gregory Marcus, and his wife, Sherri, of Topeka and Patrick Marcus, and his wife, Dee, of Edgerton; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Myron Welton of Nebraska; and two sisters, Evelyn Fegan of Paola and Lynette Bright of Manhattan.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two infant grandsons and an infant granddaughter, Madelyn Dae Rohr.
After cremation, the service will be in Junction City at a later date. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery at Junction City. Local arrangements are under the direction of Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
